You’ve seen shipping containers be transformed into houses. But have you ever seen a shipping container swimming pool? After mastering the art of making cargo container homes, French “cargotecture” company Calaak’Oncept partnered with pool specialists to make custom shipping container pools that perfectly mix industrial and modern design.

Calaak pools can be installed either above or in-ground and are low maintenance compared to standard swimming pools. The company encourages clients to be present through the entire build process so that they can get the full idea of how eco-efficient these pools really are.

Because the shipping container base is so basic, customers can work with Calaak’Oncept to create a totally customized pool that can be installed pretty much anywhere. The company works with either six-meter or twelve-meter container sizes, depending on the space, and can even create wellness pools with docks, armchairs, and waterfall options.

Shipping container exteriors are glazed and cladded with either wood or steel to ensure security. Calaak’Oncept also can include a railing, pool ladder, removable staircase, and external staircase. They also work with LEDs to provide ample light for nighttime swims.

To install one of these pools, the company only needs about a day plus some extra time for the electrical installation. And manufacturing only takes about four weeks, depending on the customization necessities.

As of right now, the company only operates in France, but follow along with Calaak’Oncept’s progress via Instagram just in case their shipping container pools end up stateside.
