Earlier this year, Loaded Storage opened at 250 Route 9, Suite 3 in Barnegat Township near the Waretown border.

Instead of driving to put things in a storage unit, through Loaded Storage the unit comes to your home in the form of 8- by 16-foot containers 8 feet tall. They can be utilized whether you’re updating your home, recovering from a flood or fire, or preparing to list your home for sale.

Owner Geffen Rodik said this concept of self-storage has grown in popularity over the years, and he saw a need to provide such service in the Southern Ocean County area.

“I love it here,” he said. “I have family in the area, and I always love vacationing on Long Beach Island.

“What we do is offering an alternative where instead of renting a truck and feeling rushed, you can do your project at your own pace and convenience. We have gotten a very warm reception in town, and we’re getting plenty of calls. We’re a friendly family business who value their customers.”

The containers carry 2,500 pounds of empty weight and have a maximum storage capacity of 6,500 pounds.

“Our secure, insulated, weather and rodent resistant mobile storage units are conveniently placed wherever you choose,” the business says on its website. “With on-site storage, you can enjoy easy access to your items while your home is being improved. Our mobile storage units are available to serve any industry that can use some extra space.”

The website also offers storage tips, such as creating an inventory of everything you’ll be storing in your unit; taking photos of how you wrapped and packed each item; ensuring you have enough packing materials, moving blankets, paper padding and bubble wrap to help protect your items. Be sure not to store food, perishable items, toxins or flammable items in your storage unit, and consult your home insurance agent to find out what’s covered under your home insurance policy.

“Our goal is to simplify your moving experience – turning one of the most stressful events in your life into a seamless one,” the site says. “Take your time loading your container, at home, at your leisure – and let us know when you’re ready to relocate your unit to your new home.”

“The units feature R8 insulated walls and roof to provide added protection for your valuable items. With its professional grade security, clients can lock the unit with its durable double-lock hasps, compatible with the most secure disc locks. Whether it’s sunny, snowing or raining, our containers are safe to load with their rubberized flooring.

“You can rest assured knowing your storage unit’s location is always accounted for via our industrial-grade GPS,” the site says.

Rodik said since opening the business, Loaded Storage has been active with the Southern Ocean County Chamber of Commerce. He said the business donated a unit last spring to help out with the Sprint for Life event in Ship Bottom.

“We want to do what we can to support local community causes,” he said.
