Investigators reported confiscated computer hard drives and dozens of DVDs from a Kirkwood home owned by a federal judge as part of a criminal investigation of his son.

Gothamist on Monday reported 49-year-old Daniel McAvoy, the son of Senior U.S. District Judge Thomas McAvoy, has been indicted on 29 felony counts. The younger McAvoy is accused of surreptitiously recording women engaged in sexual acts in his Manhattan residence.

According to the report, investigators seized three spindles holding more than 150 DVDs from property owned by Thomas McAvoy in the town of Kirkwood.

In addition to the DVDs, the news story reported other potential evidence was confiscated from the residence including hard drives, CDs, a desktop computer, an electronic notebook.

Items seized in a search of Daniel McAvoy's Manhattan apartment reportedly included four hard drives, four SD cards, a thumb drive, three camcorders, two GoPro cameras and a "white powdery substance" in a container.

The news story noted Judge McAvoy has not been accused of any wrongdoing. His son was indicted by a Manhattan grand jury on September 7.

It was not known when the searches for evidence were conducted although they apparently occurred in recent weeks.

Thomas McAvoy could not be reached for comment on the matter. An attorney representing Daniel McAvoy was not available Monday afternoon to discuss the situation.
