CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – A vacant house was damaged in a fire early Friday morning in New Providence.

Clarksville Fire Rescue responded to the call at 1:41 a.m. at 413 Plum St. Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire by 2:02 a.m., Assistant Chief Michael Rios told Clarksville Now. Local fire fighters worked until nearly 2 am to extinguish a fire in New Providence.

“We don’t know what the cause was, but our investigators are looking into it. The building was vacant,” Rios said.

Currently investigators are combing the premises, checking for accelerants and anything that might cause a fire. No one was injured.

“There was minimal damage from the fire, it was a dilapidated house,” Rios said. “The investigator said there was sign that some squatters might have been at the residence.”

CFR Engine 5, Engine 6, Engine 1, Rescue 1, Squad 1, District 2, and Battalion 2 responded.
